Can you give me an example how to create smart hints and use it with mySafeBox?

Think of a phrase which is personal to you like your anniversary date, a food that you like, a number, your favorite vacation (trust me you can have hundreds of such items). Let's say if you chose your anniversary date as the reminder item. You can then create a password hint like "My anniversary date is July 14" and from this you can create a password like "Mad8isJ!4#". M=My; a=aniversary; d8=date; is=is; J=July; 14 = !4;#=add some special character. It's that simple. You can show off your creativity by creating passwords which are easier to remember but difficult to guess. So, for the example above, you will enter "My anniversary date is July 14" in mySafeBox. And when you forget your password, you simply look at the reminder notes or the password hint that you stored in mySafeBox. More tips can be found here

I like the above example to create the password, Can I use the same example but change the anniversary date?

Please don't use any password cited in the help of mySafeBox or in any other example on mySafeBox site even if you plan to modify it. The above example has already been seen by other mySafeBox users, so it's not safe. Use your creativity to create interesting and safe passwords.

I've become very good in creating passwords and hints, Can I use paper or post-it to write my hints instead of mySafeBox?

Your hints on the paper or post-it can be seen by anyone and can be used to guess your access information. So, it's not safe. mySafeBox on the other hand can only be accessed by you. Also, mySafeBox helps you organize and access your information anywhere anytime.

Can I use mySafeBox to store my actual user id or password?

mySafeBox is not a user id or password storing utility. mySafeBox strongly recommends using smart secure hints for account information. mySafeBox will do its best to keep your information secure and private that can be accessed quickly when needed.

Who has access to my mySafeBox account?

Only you have access to your mySafeBox account! Your mySafeBox logon id and password protects your account details and access. You should never share your password with anyone else and we recommend to memorize it and not keep any written copies of it. We also recommend to change it on a regular basis.

What are strong passwords? Can you please give me an example?

Strong passwords have - both upper and lower case letters, numbers and/or punctuation characters as well as letters and are seven or eight characters long. In the example above the password Mad8isJ!4# is a strong password.

What is encryption?

Encryption involves the scrambling of data using mathematical formula. Only those who have the correct key can unscramble the data. The level of encryption is usually measured in terms of how long the key is. The longer the key, the longer it would take someone to break the encryption. The key length is measured in bits, for example 40-bit encryption or 128-bit encryption. For a 40-bit key there would be 240 possible combinations.
